Starting off on your financial journey alone can be difficult. You’ll be going through tons of costly mistakes in the process. The best way to speed this up is to find yourself a good mentor who has achieved the goals that you want to achieve yourself. This doesn’t mean find the person most readily available to you, but instead take time to network, meet new people and look around. Choosing the right mentor is extremely important. Ask yourself if this person is a good role model and someone people trust and respect. Map out your own goals and values and find someone with values that align with yours. Having an excellent mentor will help you far greater than any book you will read. This will fast track your goals to financial success. When you find a professional that you would like as your mentor, work under him even if it’s for free and deliver them some added value. By doing this, they will want to invest in your ability and future. With a mentor, make sure to not solely focus on their strengths and what they do right but pay attention to the mistakes they make so that you can avoid them in the future. Go in with the mentality to learn and not for the money. You may know someone you would like as a mentor but be afraid of rejection because of their success. The key is to just do it. You have nothing to lose and if you never try, you will never know what could have been. One good mentor is better than 10 mediocre ones. Focus on one and study them, work with them closely, build a relationship, and commit.
